working in the coal mine (rec. by chris "skippy" funkoforte)

working in the coal mine theme (orig. by lee dorsey, i think...........)

as sugested by otti, our all mighty boss, jumbo jet pilot (and dear part time friend), i had recorded an instrumental version of this soul classic here in my studio on langstrasse, zurich. right next to the hookers, junkeys and others who (thank god) turn this city into something other than just another pretty and chocolatey swiss location (we have got an airport here too, for those who would like to see one of the last jumbo jets ON the ground.....)

everything you hear in this recording i had played, programmed, recorded and edited myself (just like most of my productions......)

Therefore, I'm open to all well meant (or downright evil) suggestions, especially those coming from a producers perspective, since I'm only a musician, with little to no experience in the art of recording and production...

For those who are interested, all the equipment used is old, vintage and analogue. A Hammond B3 hooked up to a leslie model 21H (one of the oldest there is.....), a Roland TR-808 computer controlled rhythm composer, a Korg MS20 subtractive analogue synthesizer, as well as a yamaha cp-35 analogue electronic stage piano.......

anyways, have an earful, listen, shake and enjoy......

ciao.....

Dear Friends of Aviation

What was the briefing for the theme song? The proposals sound like random music. I think a touch of concept and idea woud'nt hurt :-)

Happy landing.

thanks for the comment

actually, most of the song was pretty well planned, but as i said, im less a producer than a life musician. as well as a improvisational musician. and i had worked with all analogue, very old equipment. sometimes, when u do that, things can happen that sound unplanned.... not like with a new mac with logic.

but thanks for the comment, and im open for any others.

at the time im in buenos aires playing tango for the next 2 months. this city makes me crazy but its also much of fun.

i wish you a great time!
